With the Leinster League heading into round three for Kilkenny RFC, the Foulkstown club have extra cause for celebration this Saturday.
Ahead of a visit from Bective Rangers in Division 1A of the Leinster League, the club will be celebrating the opening of their new facilities and ground upgrades which have been underway since last year.
IRFU president John Robinson will be in Kilkenny to cut the ribbon with a day of music and entertainment also planned.
Over the last year the club have been able to extend operations including with a new gym, dressing rooms, new pitch fencing and more all now in place. Kilkenny’s J2s get play underway against Bective from 1.30pm before the J1s meet at 3pm.
Having picked up a win on the opening day of the season, Kilkenny’s J1s were well beaten by league rivals Suttonians in Dublin last weekend. Having trailed 26-5 at half time, both sides hit 12 points in the second half for Suttonians to take a 38-17 win.
Before all of that, KIlkenny’s women’s side is on the road to Ballinakill, Waterford for a pre-season friendly against Waterpark RFC. Kick-off in that game is 8pm.
