Kilkenny Rugby Club Head Coach Packie Hennebry says you need your eye on the ball in cup rugby at all times regardless of the opposition.
Kilkenny are at home to Clondalkin who lie two divisions below them in Sunday’s last 16 Towns Cup clash, and speaking to KCLR, Packie says they got a fright in their first round clash in Carlow.
He said “We would be favorites because we are going well in our own league, we are fourth in our own League and we have had a couple of great results after a very slow start to the season so as I said cup competition tends to throw up such surprises and we did take our eye off the ball in Carlow”.
Speaking about their match with Carlow he said “We went ahead by around 20 odd points and then we took our foot off the pedal, you really need to keep your eye on the ball and keep going and keep playing and keep playing well if you can”.
Packie said “Our fellas got a bit of a fright in Carlow so that mightn’t be any harm, the Cup competition is great and we have a good tradition in it so we hope to make it to the last eight it would be great”
