The Kilkenny team to face Galway at Nowlan Park on Sunday in the third round of the Allianz National Hurling League was announced late Friday night and features no fewer than five changes from the side that started against Tipperary in round two just a fortnight ago.

Listen: Paul Murphy speaks to KCLR ahead of Galway clash.

An injury to Glenmore’s Eoin Murphy rules the Kilkenny goalkeeper out of contention for a place altogether, Ballhale Shamrock’s Richie Reid replacing him on goal against the Tribesmen while Glenmore’s Alan Murphy takes Reid’s place on the bench.

Paul Murphy drops to the subs bench, bringing Clara’s Shane Prendergast in at number 2 while James Stephens’ Jackie Tyrrell returns to start for Kilkenny for the first time since the 2015 Leinster Senior Hurling Final.

Also heading to the bench are James Stephens’ Diarmuid Cody and Bennettsbridge man Robert Lennon as The Rower’s Kieran Joyce and Dicksboro’s Cillian Buckley return to the starting lineup. Danesfort’s Richie Hogan also returns to the starting lineup having missed out at the last minute against Tipperary.
