We’re into the fifth round of games this weekend for the Continental Tyres Womens National League and for Kilkenny United WFC that means a trip to Cork City this evening.
Kilkenny aren’t the only side without a win this season after four rounds of fixtures, but they are the only side with four defeats and having shipped 13 goals across their games to date they find themselves at the foot of the Women’s National League. UCD Waves lead the way with 10 points from four fixtures.

United bounced back from their 4-0 defeat at hoe to Wexford Youth Womens over the Easter weekend to put in a solid showing against Galway. Kilkenny had travelled for the game with no substitutes named for the fixture and, while it was a solid showing, two goals from Becky Conroy weren’t enough for Kilkenny who fell to a 3-2 defeat.
When they take on Cork City this evening at 6pm, they take on a side who are also without a win. With a game in hand, Cork have lost two and drawn one – that single point coming from an opening day draw with Shelbourne on St. Patrick’s weekend.
Sarah O’Donoghue is the only injury concern for Kilkenny going into the game. Kick off is booked for 5pm.
Elsewhere in the league this weekend Peamount United host Galway WFC this evening at 8pm while on Sunday, league leaders UCD Waves welcome Wexford Youths Womens FC to Jackson Park.
