The competition is scheduled to kick off on January 17th, and Drennan is optimistic about the team’s prospects.
Drennan, a student at Maynooth University, expressed confidence in the team’s composition. “We’ve three O’Loughlins boys to come back – David Fogarty, Luke Hogan, and Connor Kelly. They’re three significant assets to the team,” Drennan remarked. He went on to highlight the addition of Conan Boran from Kildare and two Dublin players currently on the senior panel.
“We’ve nearly a full team now again this year, with just one missing from last year. Since we were thereabouts in our group last year, we aim to go much further this year,” Drennan stated, emphasizing the team’s ambition for the upcoming competition.
Looking ahead, the Maynooth team is set to benefit from the return of key players, including those with senior panel experience. Drennan’s focus is on leveraging the strengths of the revamped team to secure a more formidable position than the previous year.
In other developments, Group B features the defending champions, the University of Limerick (UL), who will face challenges from ATU Galway and TUS Mid-West. Group C includes SETU Waterford, Dublin City University (DCU), and Munster Technological University (MTU) Cork. Meanwhile, Group D comprises the University of Galway, SETU Carlow, and University College Dublin (UCD).
As the Fitzgibbon Cup approaches, teams across the country are gearing up for the competition, each eyeing a successful campaign in the pursuit of collegiate hurling glory.
