Kilkenny’s Colm Whelan once again earns international call up

Thomastown’s Colm Whelan gets first Republic of Ireland U21 call up for international friendlies

After bagging a goal only minutes into his debut for Jim Crawfords u-21 Irish side, former Thomastown player Colm Whelan has once again earned himself an Irish call up.

Ireland face off in European Championship qualifiers against Luxembourg at Tallaght Stadium on Friday, October 8 and Montenegro in Podgorica on Tuesday, October 12. 

Whelan is having another stellar season with UCD playing 21 matches and scoring 17, all ready besting last seasons haul where he scored 15 from 19 games.

Whelan’s calander year has been full of accolades which include his call up, his debut goal and being named by his fellow peers in the PFA First Division team of the year.
