Peamount United have been crowned Womans national league champions after a 3-1 victory against Shelbourne at PRL park last night.

Kilkenny’s Karen Duggan got on the scoresheet in the must win game where if either side won the game, they would win the league. The game also featured some Carlow IT Alumni Megan Smyth, Lauryn O Callaghan, Áine O’ Gorman, Chloe Moloney and Emma Donohoe.

There has since been calls online for Duggan to win WNL Player of the Year!

With a game to spare the Dublin side where crowned champions over their city rivals, Peamount are now scheduled to go up against Wexford Youths on December 5th in their final league game.

Congratulations to Karen and Peamount from everyone here at KCLR!

Huge congratulations to @peamountutd on retaining the #WNL title 👏

Carlow’s Padraig Almond was a second half substitute for Newport County yesterday in their League two clash against Port Vale Yesterday. Kevin Ellison scored a dramatic stoppage time goal to see Newport County retain top spot in League Two after a one nil victory.

Elsewhere Kilkenny’s Seani Maguire came on in Preston North Ends victory over Sheffield Wednesday while fellow Cat Gavan Holohan got on the scoresheet for Hartepool 3-1 victory over Yeovil.
