Following a busy week of voting, Kilkenny’s Gaynor Cup winning girls side have been named the June winner of the David Buggy Motors Kilkenny Sport Star Awards.
Having overcome North Tipperary in the semi-finals, the Kilkenny & District League Girls U14 side beat Midlands to secure the 2018 Gaynor Cup in late June.
Thomastown’s Ellen Molloy, a previous Sports Star Award recipient, played a key role in the game, scoring late in the first half to secure victory.
Also in the running for June’s award were St. Aidan’s National School in Kilmanagh, alongside brothers Paul & Shane Flavin of Paulstown Boxing Club.
