Kilkennys Mark Power leads the field at the Irish Boys’ Amateur Open which is taking place at Castle Golf Club in Dublin.

He’s one shot ahead on 5 under par after the opening round.

Mark won the Peter McEvoy Trophy earlier this season and is among the home favourites for the Irish Boys’ Amateur Open.

Among the field of 162 are players from Belgium, France, Germany, Spain and Slovakia as well as a 10-strong contingent from England.

A 72-hole stroke play event, the top 50 ties after 54 holes will make it through to the final round.
