UPMC Nowlan Park in Kilkenny is getting the nod for this year’s All-Ireland minor hurling championship final, not Croke Park.
Despite the game being scheduled for the lunchtime slot on Sunday 3 July, the same day Galway are due to meet Limerick at GAA HQ, it’s Kilkenny who will host the near-neighbours in this year’s minor decider.
While we’re more used to seeing the minor and senior All-Ireland finals played out on the same day, this year they will operate as standalone fixtures.
Offaly saw off Clare 2-16 to 0-18 in the semi-finals, making their first minor hurling since 1989. There they will meet Tipperary who needed a goal deep in injury time on Sunday to slip past Galway in a high-scoring clash, 3-24 to 3-20.
Throw-in at UPMC Nowlan Park is confirmed for Sunday 3 July at 1.30pm.
