Carlow man Ed Byrne has said Leinster’s defeat to La Rochelle in last year’s Heineken Champions Cup semi final hurt but it didn’t effect how they approach the game.

They’re getting ready for Saturday’s clash in the final where they’ll face Ronan O Gara’s french outfit with kick off at 4:45pm.

Speaking on scoreline’s Knock On rugby podcast last year, Ed said the defeat hurt but it drives them on even more.

“I think we definately have confidence in the team that we have, we know that there’s a champions cup in the group that we have”.

“As tough as those days are I dont think we’ve lost confidence in what we’re doing and the way we are playing, we just know that (on) the biggest days, it comes down to (the) smallest moments and the more of them you win.
