Leinster will travel to Thomond Park on January 23 to take on old rivals Munster in the Pro14.
The match was due to take place on December 26 but was postponed as there were a number of positive coronavirus cases in the Leinster camp prior to the game.
The Pro14 have decided to use the suspended weekend of European rugby to their advantage by rearranging the derby game for that Saturday at 7.35pm. They also announced that the Scottish derby between Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh will take place this Saturday January 16 at 5.15pm.
No other games have been given a rescheduled date as of yet, but Munster and Leinster supporters will be thrilled that a date has been confirmed for a renewal of one of European rugby’s biggest rivalries.
The rescheduled fixture will come as welcome news for rugby supporters following news this week that all European competition was temporarily suspended. The EPCR made the decision to suspend the Champions Cup and Challenge Cup due to the French government’s directive to discourage Top 14 sides from participating in European competition.
The EPCR do intend to resume their competitions later this year.
