The hurling revival of Bennettsbridge continues. A stellar season at junior level last year and a stellar season at intermediate level this year has landed Christy Walsh’s charges into the Leinster Intermediate Club Hurling Final.
Kiltale are coming to Kilkenny hoping to go a step further than last year when the Meath side lost out to Mullinvat on a 1-13 to 0-13 while Bennettsbridge will be the sixth Kilkenny side in seven years to contest the final – Mullinavat, Rower-Insitioge, Clara, Dicksboro and St. Lachtains all winning in recent years back to 2009.
On the preparation of Bennettsbridge, manager Christy Walsh offers
If anything, we’ve given them [the players] a bit of a break for the last two weeks. Some of the lads were away in college, playing with their college teams in Dublin and Cork. We haven’t done a hold lot to be honest, at this stage of the year I don’t think there’s any point. We should be okay – we’ve one or two injuries but other than that we’ve a full panel to pick from.
We spoke to Christy Walsh and Trevor Cummins (Kiltale) ahead the game to find out how both camps are doing – listen below for the full audio.
Bennettsbridge and Kiltate throws in at 2.00pm at Nowlan Park, Kilkenny and we’ll have live commentary on air and via kclr96fm.com.
