Paulstown boxer Darren O’Neill says he’s finding it easier fighting in the heavyweight division.
The former Irish olympian begins the defence of his National Heavyweight title on Saturday 28 November and he told KCLR that he’s confident of doing well.
He’ll be in quarter-final action tomorrow night (Saturday) in the 91kg category against Stephen Lawrence from Holy Family, Drogheda.
Meanwhile, Clare Grace of Callan defends her national title tonight against Grainne Walsh of Sparticus in the 69kg decider at the National Stadium.
Clare says that she will more than likely have to box-off the winner of the 75kg if she is to have any chance of qualifying for next years Rio Olympics and believes there should be more weight divisions introduced for the Olympics.
