There’s a lot riding on Sunday’s second Michael Lyng Motors Kilkenny intermediate hurling championship semi-final.
For Carrickshock, they’ve already gone one step further than last year as they look to return to the county’s senior ranks. Five years ago they were celebrating as intermediate club All-Ireland champions but as any club in Kilkenny can attest to, it’s one thing to hang on to your senior status but another to try regain it once you drop into the intermediate ranks.
Last year it was defeat to Freshford at the quarter-final stages that brought Carrickshock’s journey to an end while Thomastown are back in the semi-finals for another year running. It was last Halloween they were put to the sword by eventual intermediate champions Glenmore and they’ll be pushing to jump that final hurdle and set up a date with either Danesfort or Rower Inistoge for the county decider on Sunday week.
We’ll be live from 3.45pm with Adrian Ronan and Eddie Scally for all the action live from UPMC Nowlan Park.
