Loreto 6-10

Ursuline 7-07

Loreto Secondary School, Kilkenny and Ursuline Secondary School, Thurles will have to do it all again after a thrilling Junior ‘A’ All-Ireland final on Saturday morning.

It was the Kilkenny school that took control of the game early on as they fired three first half goals past a helpless Ursuline goalkeeper to take a six-point lead into the interval, Loreto 3-07 to Ursuline 2-04.

Loreto looked as though they were on the path to victory with ten minutes remaining as they found the net on three separate occasions in the second half to extend their lead to twelve points, Loreto 6-10 to 3-07 Ursuline.

However, the Thurles school amazingly came back into the game in the closing stages.

They took full advantage of their goal scoring opportunities as they grabbed four late goals to somehow earn an unlikely draw and send the game to a replay.

Any neutral in attendance at this incredible game will welcome a second game to decide who will be crowned All-Ireland champions.

Loreto may feel as though they have missed their chance, while Ursuline will be in good spirits following their heroic display towards the end of the game but expect an equally intriguing clash next time these two sides take to the pitch.

Replay details have yet to be confirmed.
