Kilkenny rugby women’s team sit top of their Leinster League as they seek promotion to Division 4 after a superb season to date with one game to go to seal the top spot.
Swords stand in their way, a team they defeated last November away from home 17-5. In fact, the new side has only managed the one loss this season, which has seen them pick up their boots say “Ruck that!” and go on a seven-game undefeated streak.
It was not that long ago when the call was put out for players to join the squad and to see how far they have come in such a short time, is truly spectacular. Speaking to Scoreline, head coach Paddy Moss got a bit emotional when he was talking about the upcoming crunch decider
I think it would be huge, really. I have been working with them for two years and it has been tough to see girls say we don’t have enough numbers or don’t have this or that. Now for the few that might not have three or four seasons left to keep building, but to be able to have this season. What that could mean to them.”
“No matter what happens next weekend, we place second in the division. It is something everyone on the team, and working in the background should be proud of.”
“It has been a magic experience for me.”
The game throws in at 1 pm in Foulstown, so get out and show your support!
