Kilkenny’s ‘Magic’ Myles Price returns to competitive MMA action this May as BAMMA returns to Dublin.
It’s been a long wait to see Price (9-6) back in the mixed martial arts arena, having last been seen at BAMMA 24 finishing Mario Saeed in just over a minute of the second round of their clash.
Injuries and withdrawals put paid to bouts against Declan Larkin (BAMMA 26), current lightweight champion Rhys McKee (BAMMA 28) and most recently Philip Mulpeter (BAMMA 30). In the time since, Price, along with teammate Mick Brennan, has opened the Team Ryano Kilkenny MMA facility as well as returning to competitive jiu-jitsu action.
‘Magic’ Myles Price v Pedro Carvalho
Now back at full fitness, Price is back on the BAMMA scene with a preliminary bout against Pedro Carvalho (6-3). He’s focused, driven, and looking for that BAMMA Lightweight Title. Said title is currently the property of Rhys McKee, who saw off Tim Barnett at BAMMA 34.
Carvalho is a newcomer to BAMMA, and the Portugese fighter has a high level of submission skills that could give Price trouble on the night. Organisers are already billing the bout as a potential submission clinic.
Starting his professional career in Portugal, Carvalho has relocated to SBG Ireland. Since returning to pro action in 2017, he’s picked up two wins on the bounce starting with a first round submission over Jeanderson Castro at Cage Legacy 4 last Halloween. He followed that up with a decision victory over Ibragim Kantaev at Cage Legacy 7 earlier this month to claim the Pro Cage Legacy lightweight title.
Alex ‘Da Kid’ Lohore v Ion ‘Bombadierul’ Pascu (Welterweight)
While Price and Carvalho will take care of matters on the preliminary card, it’s the iron will vs the iron fists as Lohore and Pascu collide in the 3Arena in the first main card fight to be announced for BAMMA 35.
The former BAMMA World Champion Lohore gets straight back into the thick of the action, as he attempts to carve a path back to the title and claim a potential rematch for the title that was recently his. Standing in front of him is one of the most menacing strikers in the Welterweight division.
Ion ‘Bombardierul’ Pascu is famed for his sledgehammer fists, that have put many a opponent to sleep in a distinguished career. With a solid takedown defence also in his armoury, Pascu is a scary opponent for most.
Preliminary bouts are typically shown on Facebook via Unilad.
BAMMA 35 takes place at the 3Arena, Dublin on Saturday 12 May. Tickets are now on sale via Ticketmaster outlets in Kilkenny and Carlow and online here.
