Marble City Hawks Basketball Head Coach Julian O’Keeffe says the local girls have improved immensely since they started in existence almost three years ago.

Marble City Hawks are top of Division One of the National League and speaking to KCLR after their comprehensive victory over Fr. Matthews on Saturday, Julian says making significant additions has helped their cause greatly….

“We are only in existence two and a half years, and a lot of the local girls when we started this off, we were getting well beat every year, because it takes time for people to gel, understand the League, and then the following year, we got in Kelly (O’Hallahan) and Katie (Fox) to help us and we went from strength to strength then and all the local girls now have improved so much, it’s unbelievable”

“Like Sheila Sheehy, Aine Sheehy were fantastic again the weekend, Claire Kelly, Philomena Fogarty, Anne Prendergast, they all came up, stayed up and it was counted”
