Carlow sprinter Marcus Lawler has got some serious pace.
His second place finish in the men’s 200m at Cork City Sports on Monday night etched his named in the books as the second-fastest Irishman of all-time over 200 metres.
Lawler clocked a 20.40 time, finishing behind Zambia’s Sidney Siame in a time of 20.18.
Another stunner from an Irish athlete, this time @marcus_lawler, who clocks 20.40 to take a whopping 0.31 off his best for 200m – puts him 12th in Europe this year. pic.twitter.com/I4aU7bSz2C

Waterford’s Thomas Barr posted a sixth place finish from lane six in a time of 21.16.
“It’s a long time coming to be honest with you”, said Lawler in the wake of last night’s race.
“I’ve been knocking on the door of the 20.5’s, 20.4’s. I did the 20.40 illegally last year and finally got a legal 20.40 and I’m delighted.”
For Irish male sprinters over 200m, only Paul Hession has run faster, with 20.30 time recorded eleven years ago.
