It was good news for one local man at the weekend.
Carlow’s Marcus Lawler has been announced as the Irish Universities Association Male Track & Field athlete of the year for 2016.
The 21 year old also recorded a new personal best time this year when competing in the 200 metre indoor race in Athlone where he finished with a time of 20.96.
Lawler also took part in the European Championships this year and is classed as one of Ireland’s brightest young talents.
