Mount Juliet will to host next year’s Irish Open, which will be played in May next year.

The Kilkenny course will welcome thousands of people to the event which will run from May 28th to 31st.

European Tour officials visited the Kilkenny course, which hosted the tournament between 1993 and 1995 shortly after the event earlier this year.

Championship director for the Irish Open Simon Alliss and senior vice president of marketing for Dubai Duty Free Sinead El Sibai toured Mount Juliet after Jon Rahm’s win at Lahinch.

The venue hosted the WGC American Express Championship in 2002 and 2004 with Tiger Woods and Ernie Els claiming the spoils in front of huge crowds.

Jon Rahm will defend his title at the event and Rory McIlroy has confirmed his participation.

On KCLR Live today, Eimear spoke to Mount Juliet’s Director of Golf Matt Sandercock and Professional golfer Luke Donnelly about the news, click the link below to listen.
