Mount Leinster Rangers manager Brendan Fennelly says the Carlow Hurling Championship is only starting to build momentum now as the 2nd round of games take place this weekend.
Speaking to KCLR, Brendan says there is no reliable form to indicate how teams are progressing…..
“I would hope there is anyway” when asked whether they will be extra motivated to regain the Senior Championship after neighbors St. Mullins winning it the last three years, before adding “We have just worked and we have trained” .
“We had been in the Kilkenny League in the early part of the year”
“We had quite a few players like St. Mullins and the rest of them on the Carlow Team up to the Christy Ring time and I mean it’s amazing, it’s now what the middle of August we have only league game played in Carlow, and the whole thing is only just starting to build up momentum now at this stage”
Meanwhile Brendan says that Waterford defender Conor Gleeson should be allowed play in the All-Ireland Final after his fellow Waterford Teammate Austin Gleeson got the all clear after an incident involving Cork’s Luke Meade in last Sunday’s All-Ireland Semi-Final.
Speaking to KCLR, Brendan says that equal procedures have not been applied after Tadhg De Burca missed last Sunday’s game…..
“Yeah, I think Austin is very lucky. When you look at the incident in black and white, we are all delighted that Austin is allowed play in the All-Ireland and at this stage now, the GAA having made that decision because really there was comparing that to the Tadhg De Burca incident there I mean, you would wonder where the fairness is really so I think they should bite the bullet now and give Conor Gleeson a clean bill of health and let them get on with it”
