It’s two-in-a-row for ladies of Muckalee as they were crowned adult county football champions for a second year running on Sunday with a win over Railyard in Danesfort.
With a 2-14 to 0-04 win over Railyard, Muckalee were full value for their high-scoring finish having led 1-08 to 0-03 at the break and restricting Railyard to just a single score in the second half.
Full credit to Kilkenny Ladies Gaelic Football, the crowds turnout out for all clubs in action on Sunday with the pre-match parade adding to the occasion. Along with their county title, Muckalee can look forward to a Leinster junior championship preliminary round knockout clash with Laois champions Sarsfields Mountmellick on Saturday 15 October.
A win for Muckalee would send them to the quarter-finals with Longford next on the road to provincial glory.
Dunnamaggin claim Under 16 honours
They say goals win games, and there were plenty of those in the day’s second game as Dunnamaggin and John Lockes had six between them on the scoreboard by half-time in the Under 16 Roinn A final.
Goals would ultimately prove the difference with Dunnamaggin adding another three in the second half to hold of Callan and take this year’s Under 16 crown with a 7-06 (27) to 2-08 (14) win.
