Mullinavat 2-13

Kilmacow 1-15

Mullinavat are the 2022 JJ Kavanagh & Sons Kilkenny U21 ‘C’ county champions following a one-point win over Kilmacow in Saturday afternoon’s tight decider.

Two second half goals proved crucial for the men in black and white as they ended a memorable 2022 with another piece of silverware following their senior football championship success earlier this year.

In a hard-fought first half, Mullinavat failed to shrug off their opponents as they took a three-point lead into the interval, Mullinavat 0-07 to 0-04 Kilmacow.

The second half opened up with Kilmacow having the better of the first period after the break as they found themselves level with a quarter of an enthralling encounter remaining.

Mullinavat looked to have secured the title with two goals in quick succession to extend their advantage to 2-13 to 0-12 but Kilmacow refused to give in.

They managed to score the next 1-03 without reply.

Their efforts were to be in vein, however, as Mullinavat held on to clinch the victory and the county championship.
