Patrick Mullins guided the evergreen 11-year-old Hidden Cyclone to victory in the the McSweeney Arms Hotel Qualified Riders Race at Killarney on Tuesday evening at odds of 9-2.
Mullins still had a bit to do turning for home as he went in pursuit of clear leader Jocular but he never panicked and under a typically well judged ride, he shot to the front inside the final furlong and he had just enough left in reserve to fend off the fast finishing 8-13 favourite Affinisea by a short-head, with the front running Jocular back in third.
The Guinness Galway Hurdle, Ireland’s richest jumps race, could be next for Hidden Cyclone.
