Fans of jump racing have plenty of action to look forward to in Kilkenny this weekend, as Gowran Park’s Eddie Scally outlines for Scoreline.

“Today marks the start of the 2022/23 National Hunt Season at Gowran Park and we’ve got two days of high-class jumps racing to enjoy, headlined by Saturday’s Grade 2 PWC Champion Chase.”

“Today’s card (Friday) is eight competitive races for everyone to enjoy with our feature races the listed Pat Walsh Mares Hurdle and the Mucklemeg bumper”, says Scally.

“The Willie Mullins-trained Champagne Problem will be bidding to give the local trainer his sixth win in this eighth running of the Pat Walsh race and of course Doran’s Weir in the Mucklemeg bumper will be doing his best to give Michael Hourigan a listed mares winner in the bumper.”

“It’s a very exciting card to get through with our first race going to post at 1.35pm and the courtesy busses will be leaving from the Kilkenny Castle gates at 12.30pm.I would recommend anyone coming out to wrap up as it looks to be a bit wild early in the day but will dry off in the afternoon and I’m sure we’ll be able to sit back and enjoy two brilliant days of national hunt racing.”

Racing on Saturday gets underway at 1.35pm with the last race going to post at 5.42pm.
