Joey Holden says the League is a very important part of Kilkenny’s build-up to the Championship.

Kilkenny had a one point lost to Waterford in their opening round game in the National Hurling League last weekend.

The cats go up against Clare this coming weekend in Cusack Park in Ennis.

Speaking to KCLR, Joey says the League competition is perfect to find out where your fitness levels are at…..

“We take the League very seriously every year and it’s a chance for new lads that have come in to nail their place, or lads that maybe to guarantee their place for the Championship, but it’s a good test to see where you are, see where your fitness is, you have to go out and prove yourself out on the field”

“That’s where the talking is done, you can do so much off the field, but when that pressure comes on on the field, that’s where you have to do your talking”
