The semi-finals pairing for this year’s Carlow Senior Football Championship have been confirmed.

It will be a double header in Netwatch Cullen Park this Sunday with Éire Óg facing Rathvilly at quarter past 2 before Tinryland go up against Bagenalstown Gaels at 4 o’clock.

Those draws were made following the weekend’s quarter-finals.

In the first game of the day, Bagenalstown Gaels claimed a 1-09 to 1-07 win over Old Leighlin, while Éire Óg proved too strong for Mount Leinster Rangers as Turlough O’Brien’s side secured a 3-12 to 2-08 victory.

O’Brien looked ahead to Sunday’s upcoming semi-final when he spoke to KCLR after the game and this was his answer when asked about the relevance of the meeting between his team and Rathvilly earlier in the season.

“I don’t think so. Look, you’re here now at the semi-final stage, it’s knockout and games can change on a poor decision via player, missed opportunity, missed tackle.”

“A lot of things can happen in the heat of a championship game and there’s very little between the sides. Neither side will fear the other, both will be confident. I think it will be an open game of football and I look forward to it.”

Both semi-finals will be live on KCLR this Sunday.
