Netwatch Cullen Park, celebrating 80 years of hosting Carlow’s club and inter-county fixtures, will be under a new light come this September.

The floodlights at Carlow GAA HQ have been under development and fine tuning for the past number of months and the official switching on of the new floodlight system will take place in a party atmosphere on Friday 2 September.

The move itself will open up Netwatch Cullen Park to a host of evening weekday and weekend fixtures under the new lights.

The event itself will be marked by a free family night at Netwatch Cullen Park, the evening getting underway from 8pm preceded by a re-running of the 1916 Parade due earlier this year (weather prevented parade in the Spring).

With entertainment and food at the grounds, the honour of being the first out under the lights will go to the Under 14 Carlow Colts Hurling and Football teams for exhibition games.

The event is free for all to attend and according to CarlowGAA.ie “promises to be a wonderful, family friendly and hugely historic evening for all who attend”.
