New Galway senior hurling manager Henry Shefflin has named Damien Joyce and Kevin Lally as the latest members of his backroom team for 2022.
Joyce, a former captain of the Tribesmen, was also part of Micheál Donoghue’s management team in 2017 as they ended their long wait for an All-Ireland title.
The former Ballyhale Shamrocks All-Ireland winning manager in 2019 and 2020 has also brought in three-in-a-row Galway SHC winning manager with St Thomas’ Kevin Lally.
Lally was a key figure in the Galway minor coaching team over the last two seasons as they went on to win the All-Ireland in 2020 before being dethroned by Cork in the decider earlier this year.
Joyce and Lally are joined by former Kilkenny hurler Richie O’Neill as part of Shefflin’s backroom team.
10-time All-Ireland winner Shefflin was appointed as Shane O’Neill’s replacement last month to much fanfare as Galway look to reclaim the Liam MacCarthy Cup for the first time in five years in 2022.
