Rower Inistioge Chairman Matt Galavan says they know they have a difficult challenge ahead for their opening contest against Carrickshock on Saturday evening.
Speaking to KCLR, Matt says their new manager Peter Queally has high credentials.
“We have Peter Queally in. Peter has probably a fairly good record behind him.”, says Galavan.
“He hurled and was selector with Waterford with Davy Fitzgerald and he brought Passage to a senior title in Waterford and on as far as the Munster title.”
“We had a good run in it last year, we were beaten by O’Loughlin Gaels – the eventual winners – in the semi-final, but I suppose it’s a new year and everyone has the same ambitions.
“We have a tough opening game, we are playing the All-Ireland Intermediate Champions, Carrickshock, in the first round. No doubt they would be very eager to have a good start in their first game back up Senior so we know we have a difficult challenge ahead”.
That game goes ahead in Thomastown’s GAA grounds at 7pm this Saturday evening.
