Padraig Amond’s got himself a new club.
The 29-year-old Carlow native has traveled a fair bit since joining Shamrock Rovers’ schoolboys setup as far back as 1999. Following a brief stint in Portugal, Amond’s put his time in at Accrington Stanely (2011-13), Morecambe (2013), Grimsby Town (2015), Hartlepool United (2016) and now League Two side Newport County. Amdon has previously been capped for Ireland at U21 level.

Playing at Rodney Parade under manager Michael Flynn, Amond joins Newport with the side having crashed out of the League Cup thanks to a 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Leeds.
Unbeaten in League Two after four games, Newport line out next at home to Chesterfield this Saturday at 3pm, with an away trip to Forest Green three days later in the group stages of the Football League Trophy.
