No medals for Kilkenny’s Naomi Trait at European Championships however her relay team set a new Irish record

This was the first time Ireland had competed in the Mixed 4x200m Freestyle relay.

Kilkenny’s Naomi Trait selected for Irish Relay team for European Aquatics Championships in Hungary

There was no medal for Kilkenny’s Naomi Trait at the European Aquatics Championships yesterday however her relay team did set their own record.

The mixed 4x200m Freestyle team also including Brendan Hyland, Max McCusker and Victoria Catterson clocked 7:50.41 to better the Irish senior record they set in the heats.

This was the first time Ireland had competed in the Mixed 4x200m Freestyle relay, which is not included in the Olympic or World Championships schedule.

Today (Wednesday) sees Ireland’s much-anticipated Men’s 4x200m Freestyle Relay team in action with Finn McGeever, Jack McMillan, Gerry Quinn, and Jordan Sloan on the start sheet.

Mona McSharry

Mona McSharry goes in the final of the 100-metres breaststroke at the European Aquatics Championships later.

The Sligo swimmer qualified sixth fastest from the semi-finals.

The finals begin at 5 pm, with Mona McSharry swimming at 5.25 pm.
