There will be no new faces in the Carlow senior football championship next season.

Due to Éire Óg’s victory in the intermediate final on Saturday evening, no team will be promoted from the intermediate grade to senior grade for 2022.

As a result, one one team will now be relegated from the senior football championship.

Following Eire Óg’s victory in the IFC final, no team will be promoted from IFC to SFC at end-2021.

As a result, only one team will now be relegated from the SFC, to be decided as follows:

1. Old Leighlin v O’Hans,
2. Loser of 1 v B’branna
3. Loser of 2 will play in IFC in 2022

— Carlow GAA (@Carlow_GAA) November 1, 2021

To figure out who that is, Old Leighlin will play O’Hanrahans in a relegation semi-final with the loser playing Ballinabranna in a senior relegation final.

Whoever emerges victorious in that fixture will remain at senior level for another year while the loser drops into the intermediate football championship for 2022.

Éire Óg’s seniors take on Mount Leinster Rangers this Sunday at 3.30pm at Netwatch Cullen Park for a place in this year’s senior county final against ether Bagenalstown Gaels or Rathvilly.
