O’Loughlin Gaels are the Junior County Champions in Kilkenny.

The city side defeated Conahy Shamrocks on a 1-17 to 1-15 scoreline

While O’Loughlin Gaels will head for Intermediate status next season it will be Conahy heading to Leinster for the provincial championships

Speaking to KCLR, O’Loughlins Captain Sammy Johnson said the final was their biggest test to date.

He said “We played against the wind in the first half and Conahy took control, but we battled back, we didn’t feel like we hurled too well in patches, they did all the hurling but we only went in at half time a point down”.

“We’ve been kind of up and down at half time in most of the matches all year but this is our biggest test, but we knuckled down and we got scores at the right times, we battled on, it’s a testament to all the lads, its a very young team, I think the oldest player is 27 years of age so we’re up and coming now so it’s brilliant for the club to have it”.
