O’Loughlin Gaels have won their first Kilkenny Senior Hurling Title since 2010 after defeating Ballyhale Shamrocks by 0-19 to 1-12 at Nowlan Park.

A First half goal from TJ Reid looked to have put Shamrocks on the front foot but Mark Bergin kept O’Loughlins in touch from placed balls as Ballyhale held a two point lead at the break.

Martin Comerford was in top form for O’Loughlin Gaels and an outstanding score from way out under the stand inspired his side to go on and become victorious with Danny Loughnane also coming to the fore in the second half.

Young Substitute Sean Bolger also managed a point from play as O’Loughlins earned themselves a deserved victory on the day.

Earlier in the afternoon an Eamon Hennebry inspired Mooncoin side became Kilkenny Junior Champions after a dominant 2-19 to 1-8 win over a John Lockes side who will know that they didn’t do themselves justice on the day.

Hennebry’s fielding was outstanding and he scored a goal and set up another to put Mooncoin into an 11 point lead at the break.

A Dan McCormack goal was slim consolation for John Lockes on a day they will want to forget very quickly, but Mooncoin were not to be denied on a day where they had eight different scorers.
