“One hell of a beating” promised as Decky Dalton awaits BAMMA 30 date with Mick Brennan

Decky ‘The Diamond’ Dalton (left, above) is bursting with confidence ahead of his BAMMA 30 date with Mick ‘Basher’ Brennan (4-7) this Friday night.

The pair had been due to meet for an ISK title fight a few years back but it never materialised. This weekend they get the chance to dance on Europe’s biggest mixed martial arts stage.

“All training is going well”, said Dalton (6-3) this week, speaking to Jamie Brophy ahead of BAMMA 30.

“I’m on weight, uninjured, like a loaded spring. Brennan is in for one hell of a beating.”

When the pair face off, they’ll do so on the undercard of a busy night of fighting in Dublin’s 3 Arena this Friday. No fewer than 15 bouts have been booked for the event which is headlined by a World Bantamweight Title fight between Alan ‘The Apprentice’ Philpott and Shay Walsh.

While Brennan has been splitting his fight camp time between his own facility Team Ryano Kilkenny (in Kilkenny) and the Team Ryano HQ in Finglas, Dublin, Dalton has returned to his roots at Fight Academy Ireland.

Friday’s fight will be his first back under the FAI banner as he looks, like Brennan, to overturn a string of recent defeats.

“I’m back home at FAI and never felt better”, says Dalton.

“I’ve got great training partners and I’ve been wrestling a lot with some top grapplers. Mick will need a shotgun on Friday to stop me.”

Dalton has been the more active of the pair ahead of this Friday. The FAI man is coming off three straight defeats stemming back to Clan Wars 24 in April of last year (TKO by Gary Morris). Two decision losses followed in October (Peter Queally) and at BAMMA 28 (Jonathan Brookins) in February of this year.

Brennan’s run of four defeats stretches back to 2013 at Cage Warriors 63, with losses coming again in 2014 (Stephen Coll), 2015 (Azi Thomas) and 2016 (Brian Moore) at BAMMA 24.

With a well rounded game and a wealth of experience, shotguns or not, Dalton won’t be a walkover for Brennan, with Team Ryano stablemate Andy Murphy suggesting the preliminary fight has the potential to be “fight of the night”.
