Despite being sidelined with an injury, Palatine’s Tomás Kenny continues to play a vital leadership role for his team as they prepare for the Michael Lyng Motors Hyundai Carlow Senior Football Final against Rathvilly on Sunday, October 6th.

Following Palatine’s semi-final victory over Éire Óg last weekend, teammate Brian McMahon praised Kenny’s influence, even though he hasn’t been able to take to the field.

Speaking with KCLR’s match commentator Brendan Hennessy after the game, McMahon highlighted Kenny’s ongoing contribution to the team’s success:
“Tomás is a huge loss, a massive loss for us, but he’s still involved. He’s still in the dressing room and on the sideline. He just brings a great kind of standard, even when he’s not playing. He’s still been going away in the gym, but we’re not really too sure what way he’ll be for the final.”

Kenny’s leadership off the field has clearly been felt, and Palatine will be hoping his presence continues to inspire them as they face Rathvilly in what promises to be an exciting county final.

You can hear the full interview with Brian McMahon, along with much more post-game analysis from across Carlow and Kilkenny, on KCLR’s post-game podcast.
