The 2022/23 junior soccer season in Kilkenny begins on Sunday with seven games taking place in the Pat Maher Shield Shield.
There were supposed to be eight however Castlewarren gave a walkover, which allowed St. Canices to progress to next round.
Soccer enthusiasts keenly watched the city derby of Evergreen and Freebooters out on the Kells road. Craig Hayes scored the only goal of the game for the blues, and things went from bad to worse for Evergreen after Mark Slater was sent off the first half.
