Rower-Inistioge Senior Hurling Manager PJ Delaney says it’s more positive that three rounds of club matches will have been played by the end of May.

Speaking to KCLR ahead of their clash against Danesfort on Easter Sunday, he says it’s also easier for players to train and motivate themselves this year.

“It was trial and error I suppose in fairness it was new to everyone last year (scheduling) so that is good”, said Delaney in speaking to Michael O’Leary.

“I hope that match in May is going to be crucial as well because rather than, say, finished in April and not seeing any action again till next September, having it again in May just shortens that period.”

“I know there is still thirteen weeks of a break in-between that and September matches, but it just shortens it nicely.”

“You are still training away for April having done so much work between say January, February, March, April and you are still going at in May, yeah, it’s positive, yeah.”

Senior hurling this weekend

Rower Inistioge and Danesfort clash in the St. Canice’s Credit Union Senior Hurling League at 1.30pm in Thomastown in the only senior fixture of the day.

Senior hurling gets underway on Friday with Erin’s Own and Dicksboro meeting in Clara.

Then on Saturday it’s the turn of O’Loughlin Gaels v Ballyhale Shamrocks, James Stephens v Mullinavata, Graigue Ballycallan v St. Patrick’s and Clara v Bennettsbridge.
