Play it again: Tullaroan claim Intermediate Club All-Ireland with last gasp win over Fr. O’Neill’s

Games like this don't come along too often.

Tullaroan claim the Intermediate Club All-Ireland title at Croke Park

It may seem like a hundred years ago already, but in January this year, Tullaroan were crowned the All-Ireland intermediate club hurling champions

Having come out of Kilkenny, Tullroan started their Leinster campaign in November last year with a comfortable 3-18 to 1-12 win over Rosenallis.

That was followed up with a 3-17 to 1-13 win over Naas in Callan before picking up the Leinster crown on home soil with a 2-25 to 2-13 win over Seir Kieran at UPMC Nowlan Park on 30 November.

There would be little in the way of partying over the Christmas period as the club would contest their All-Ireland semi-final against Ulster champs Naomh Éanna.

The Antrim men never stood a chance, Tullaroan walking away 3-20 to 0-14 winners.

Then it all came down to Croke Park, 18 January this year. Shane Walsh would take the last point of the game with the last puck of the ball to edge Munster champs Fr. O’Neill’s 3-19 to 5-12 in a fast-paced free-flowing game of hurling.

Oisín Langan and Michael Walsh were on commentary for KCLR that day and may have required a stiff drink by the final whistle, such was the level of excitement in the commentary box.
