Positional changes possible as Brian Cody names Kilkenny team for All-Ireland final; Lynch out for Limerick

It's as-you-were for both Kilkenny and Limerick this weekend as the sides are named for Sunday's All-Ireland senior hurling final.

We’ve been hearing it all week on KCLR Breakfast – “Cian Kenny raises a green flag at the canal end” with goals tipped to be key for Kilkenny to overthrow Limerick this weekend.

That’s a reference to the Cats’ last outing against Clare with the Village man getting his first ever Championship goal with a second-half strike against the Banner.

If the teamsheet is to be believed, Kenny will start at midfield with Shamrocks’ Adrian Mullen in the corner, backed by TJ Reid on the right-hand side.

Outside of possible positional changes – and anything is possible – Kilkenny have named an unchanged side from the one that started against Clare two weeks ago.

Richie Hogan is again included on the bench, alongside Richie Leahy. While Walter Walsh had a good second-half showing, including that hand-pass to Kenny for Kilkenny’s second goal, he will also start from the bench. Among the subs, Castlecomer’s Conor Fogarty replaces Darragh Corcoran.

Limerick team to face Kilkenny

For Limerick, it’s a case of ‘if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it’ with John Kiely also going for an unchanged starting 15 from the side that dispatched Galway in the semi-finals two weeks ago.

There is some disappointment for Limerick fans with Cian Lynch out of the matchday 26 due to an injury picked up earlier in the week.

Here’s how Limerick will line out.

You can catch the game live in full on air, online and in-app this Sunday with our coverage on the day beginning from 11am at Dublin’s Academy Plaza Hotel.
