Gowran Park Racing General Manager Eddie Scally says there is a strong possibility that Cheltenham Gold Cup favorite Presenting Percy and 2017 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Sizing John will clash against one another in the Galmoy Hurdle on Thyestes Day.
Speaking to KCLR at last Friday’s Thyestes launch, Eddie says the ground could be too dry for Sizing John to compete in the Kinloch Brae Chase in Thurles on Sunday as his scheduled seasonal debut.
“He’s (Patrick Kelly trainer) looking like he is going to take the same route again with Presenting Percy”
“We are looking at the Galmoy Hurdle first on Thyestes Day followed by the Red Mills Chase on the 16th of February and what I am hearing also is that Sizing John is now looking at eyeing up the same race so fingers crossed we can have the two of them taking each other and we will have a brilliant day”
“I would say Thurles will need the rain quicker than us, we watered all Summer and Thurles wouldn’t have that luxury so fingers crossed that the ground comes right for Sizing John, but i’d say if Sizing John doesn’t run in the Kinloch Brae I wouldn’t be shocked to see Sizing John run the Kinloch Brae so watch that space”
