There’s a big weekend of hurling action in Kilkenny across the Michael Lyng Motors Intermediate Hurling League and the St. Canice’s Credit Union Senior Hurling League.

Ballyhale, home of All-Ireland winners TJ Reid, Richie Reid, Michael and Colin Fennelly and 2015 captain Joey Holden say they’ll be making a late call as to whether they field those who were in action in Croke Park last Sunday against Galway – the big question being do they actually need to include them as they’re safe, out of the relegation area and can’t be caught. Michael Fenelly, having missed a lot of action over the season returned to fine form last weekend but may well be rested and with safety comes a cushion ahead of next week’s start to the knock out rounds of the championship.

Mullinvat will want to win their encounter with Ballyhale given the neighbouring parishes – “bragging rights” according to Adrian Ronan – and last year’s intermediate champions taking on last year’s club All-Ireland champions. All eyes will very much be on their Sunday afternoon encounter.

Across Roinn A & B in both the intermediates and seniors, there’s a few banana skins in the mix and a few relegation threats that rear their heads this weekend as well but KCLR Sport has got you covered on all you need to know.

There’s a local derby in Kilkenny City too this Sunday at 2pm as the Village take on O’Loughlin Gaels.

Stephen Byrne caught up with former Kilkenny hurler Adrian Ronan to preview this weekend’s league action.
