The St. Canices Credit Union Senior, Intermediate and Junior Camogie Leagues commence in Kilkenny this weekend with a full round of games.
The action commences on Friday night and and a very attractive contest is in store between the Leinster Champions from the past two years.
Piltown who went all the way and won the Club All-Ireland Final last year play the defending County and Leinster Intermediate Champions Tullaroan who lost out to the eventual All-Ireland Champions Cahir in the All-Ireland Semi-Final.
It’s a hectic evening on Saturday with 9 games down for decision.
In the Senior League, defending County Champions Mullinavat host Windgap, St. Martins host St. Lachtains/Lisdowney and Thomastown host Dicksboro with all games commencing at 8pm.
Also at 8pm, there are three games in the Intermediate League.
Clara host Danesfort, St. Annes are at home to Rower-Inistioge in Johnstown, while on the Kells Road, James Stephens host St. Brigids.
Meanwhile, in the Junior League there are 3 games to be played at 7.30pm
Tullogher host Emeralds, Blacks and Whites host Young Irelands while Conahy host O’Loughlin Gaels.
On Sunday, the remaining Intermediate League game is to be played between tGlenmore and last years Junior Champions Carrickshock.
It’s start of a very busy period for the County players in particular with Minors in All-Ireland Semi-Final action against Galway on Saturday week, April 16th while the Seniors play Tipperary on Sunday week 17th April in the National League Semi-Final.
The following weekend the 2nd round of club games will be played.
