Kilkenny Senior Camogie manager Ann Downey says it’s no surprise that Dublin have reached an All-Ireland Semi-Final.
Speaking to KCLR ahead of tomorrow’s (Saturday) Semi-Final clash, Anne says that Dublin will provide a fierce battle.
“Well sure you know, when you are in an All-Ireland Semi-Final, you really have to be fully tuned in and we know that coming up against Dublin on Saturday, it’s going to be a fierce battle for us altogether.
“They are a strong physical team and David Herity is doing great work with them so we will be expecting a tough task on Saturday. We played them in Kilmanagh and we knew they were well capable of beating Wexford.
I suppose Wexford were struggling a little bit this year and didn’t surprise me one bit when they beat them.”
Meanwhile Ann added that she is delighted to call on the younger players to compensate for injuries to a number of their Seniors ahead of Saturday’s game.
“Everyone knows at this stage that we have three cruciate ligaments from last year and unfortunately for Sarah Anne Quinlan she has joined the list of injuries at this stage after fracturing her ankle.
“Jacqui Frisby is trying to get back from a hamstring but other than that, I suppose we did have a good panel so it’s great to be able to call on the girls that are on the panel that we will need for the next few days anyway.
“They are still learning their trade, some of them very young but delighted to have the big panel because when we go training and we have 15 against 15, it really helps,” she said.
We have Full Live Commentary of the game at 5.15 on Saturday.
