Kilkenny cyclist Mia Griffin says that it is an honour to be able to partake in the Ras Na Mban in Kilkenny this week.
The 15th edition of Ireland’s premier women’s cycling event runs from this Wednesday 8th to the 12th of September in Kilkenny.
Organisers have announced two new stages for the 2021 edition of the race, a challenging new mountain-stage finish on 12 September while Callan will host the finish of Stage 1 on Wednesday.
Ireland’s only international stage race in 2021 returns with a familiar format featuring four road race stages of varying length and difficulty, a time trial, and a circuit race which for a fifth time centres on the beautiful city of Kilkenny.
The Springhill Court Hotel is being used as a base, with six stages taking place over five days in and around the race base.
Speaking to Scoreline on Saturday, Mia Griffin, who is part of the five-strong Irish team for the event that kicks off in Kilkenny on Wednesday, said that she can’t wait to get started.
“I’m so looking forward to it, I think racing around home is such a privilege and something that doesn’t happen very often, and to be able to race an international race on my home roads is really cool,” said Mia.
