Former Carlow Senior Football Goalkeeper John Kearns says that having got relegated from Division 3 last year was a factor in Turlough O’Brien continuing as manager for another year.

Speaking to KCLR ahead of Carlow’s National League opener tomorrow night (Saturday) against Wicklow, John says that Turlough will be determined to get them back up to Division 3.

He said “If they had stayed up in Division 3, Turlough might have said listen fine my job is done now so I might walk away, but listen he is the kind of guy he will never shy away from anything like that so I think the fact that they are kind of back down in Division 4”.

“I don’t think he would like to leave them down there, I think he wants to give them one last chance of getting back up to Division 3 against after the year they had last year”.
