At last night's Executive meeting, we had the honor of nominating Richie Reid as Captain of the @KilkennyCLG for the upcoming year. We would like to wish Richie the very best of luck. pic.twitter.com/bafFU8oJDg

Since Ger Fennelly in 1979, there have been 18 times a Shamrocks man has captained Kilkenny. A Reid has held the armband four times outdone by the Fennelly’s who have managed that accolade a staggering eight times.
Of those 18 times, Kilkenny has gone on to win the All Ireland seven times and the Leinster title nine times.
Dicksboros Cillian Buckley was the last Captain of Kilkenny not from Shamrocks after the Boro defeated James Stephens in the county final in 2017.
